UPDATE (8 p.m.) - Weather alert - Heavy rain and risk of flooding
Published on mardi 6 juin 2023 in 20:25
This alert is no longer valid.
The Town of Gaspé reminds citizens to be vigilant. The level of the Darmouth, Renard and Anse-au-Griffon rivers has risen sharply in recent hours and continues to rise. There are already overflows.
Although less intensely, it will rain all night. The level of the Renard and Anse-au-Griffon rivers should be maximum overnight. That of the Darmouth must be maximum between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. The situation is changing rapidly.
Our Public Works and Fire Protection teams monitor the infrastructure and waterways most at risk. But we remind you to be particularly attentive; everyone is responsible for their own safety.
In an emergency, dial 9-1-1. Don't take unnecessary risks if you have any doubts about your safety. Do not venture on flooded roads.
You must always have an emergency kit to meet your needs for 72 hours (water, food, medicine, etc.).
A next update will take place tomorrow morning. The City of Gaspé thanks you for your attention and asks you to be careful.
